ZESTRON® Cleanliness testing of electronic assemblies

In order to provide you with well-founded results and reliable interpretations, we check your entire cleaning process together with ZESTRON using a wide range of test methods - optical, chemical or physical. The comprehensive technical reports, including image verification, ensure maximum transparency and traceability. In addition, we assess the possible consequences of residual contamination for you and recommend targeted optimization measures. Contamination from the production process, such as flux or particles, can significantly impair the functional reliability of electronic assemblies.

ZESTRON offers you various analysis methods to verify the surface cleanliness of your assemblies. Our analysis goes far beyond simply measuring and recording data. Our experienced experts interpret the results for you and derive specific measures to solve existing problems and optimize your process.

Your advantages at a glance

  • Proof of surface cleanliness/quality for internal and external ISO audits

  • Security for warranty claims from customers and suppliers

  • Verifiable cleanliness for statistical process control

  • Ensuring the coatability and bondability of your assembly

ZESTRON® AnalytikumAnalysis method

ZESTRON offers its customers maximum reliability. ZESTRON relies on a wide range of state-of-the-art analysis methods and analysis devices. Through careful and precise analysis, sources of error can be identified and targeted measures can be taken to eliminate problems and increase the productivity and quality of your cleaning processes.

The following methods are available for purity and bath analysis:

  •  FTIR spectroscopy: spatially resolved characterization of organic residues on surfaces and identification of materials and substances

  • REM/EDX: Investigation of the nature and chemical composition of surfaces of electronic assemblies

  • Ionische Kontaminationsmessung by contaminometer to determine purity

  • Ionenchromatographie for process validation and risk assessment

  • Technische Sauberkeit: particle extraction and analysis according to VDA19 / ISO 16232

  • Surface energy by means of contact angle measurement or ink test to determine bondability and coatability

  • Visual inspection using an optical (80x) and digital (up to 1000x) microscope

  • ZESTRON® Flux Test for the detection of flux residues to determine the risk of corrosion and leakage current

  • ZESTRON® Resin Test for the detection of resin residues to determine bondability and coatability

  • ZESTRON® Coating Layer Test  for the detection of defects in the protective coating of electronic assemblies

  • Qualitative thermal analysis for the (qualitative and quantitative) determination of anions, cations and weak organic acids

  • Measurement of surface resistance for signal integrity

  • Bath analysis of your cleaning and rinsing baths

Bathroom quality check

ZESTRON reliably ensures a consistently high bath quality of the cleaning process and thus optimum process reliability. ZESTRON defines individual monitoring parameters for you using standardized analysis methods based on the bath samples you send us. This allows you to utilize the maximum bath life of the cleaner and reduce your process costs at the same time.

ZESTRON can offer you the following:

  • Free analysis of up to six bath samples using standardized ISO test methods

  • Technical reports with monitoring curve and action limit (see below)

  • Bath monitoring parameters specified for your application

  • Determination of the solids content

  • pH value measurement (according to DIN 19268)

  • Conductivity measurement (according to DIN-EN 27888)

  • Determination of concentration

  • Refractive index measurement (in accordance with DIN 51423)

  • Optical inspection
