Metcal Soldering systems

Our soldering systems from Metcal integrate powerful, reliable inductive heating technology that enables faster temperature equalization, shorter dwell times, and quicker thermal recovery than competing systems.

Metcal users can rely on fast, efficient soldering, even in challenging applications with high thermal mass.

Thanks to SmartHeat® power-on-demand technology, Metcal delivers the precise amount of thermal energy required for each solder joint — ensuring reliable connections every time. In addition, Metcal’s patented Connection Validation™ (CV) technology marks a major step forward in hand soldering process control: it evaluates solder joint quality by measuring intermetallic compound (IMC) formation and provides real-time visual feedback to the operator via an LED-equipped handpiece.

MetcalCV-5210 & CV-510

The thickness of the IMC is decisive for the formation of a reliable solder joint. To meet this need, Metcal offers two unique CV soldering systems that evaluate solder joint quality by calculating IMC formation and providing closed-loop feedback to the operator.

The CV-5200 Series features both CV technology and SmartHeat® technology. A 2.8-inch color touchscreen with bold graphics makes programming the system easy, while the integrated line-power meter provides a visual representation of the power-on-demand feature.

The CV-500 Series combines Metcal’s CV technology into a compact, practical package. It is ideal for SMD retouching and small-component rework, especially when used with the available Ultrafine handpiece and Ultrafine tweezer handpiece (each sold separately).

MetcalMX-5210 & MX-500

The MX-5200 Series is a dual-soldering station designed for soldering, desoldering, and rework tasks. It supports 1 to 2 users working simultaneously on two applications.

The MX-5200 Series allows the use of two channels in parallel, significantly boosting productivity and user-friendliness. Its heating power is nearly twice that of its predecessor. Moreover, despite the increased heat demands for components with high-mass bonding, multilayer PCBs, and especially lead-free processes, the MX-5200 Series still has ample power reserves.

Soldering professionals know that variable heating power combined with a stable fixed temperature provides the best conditions for safe soldering and rework. The MX-5200 Series’ SmartHeat technology ensures that soldering and rework tasks are performed at safe, controlled temperatures.

Features & Benefits:

  • Power display with graphical and numerical representation of the power drawn from the soldering cartridge

  • Adjustable power-save mode: switch-off time in case of inactivity can be set between 10 and 120 minutes

  • Earthing check: during commissioning, the system verifies correct earthing to ensure ESD-safe operation

  • Universal power supply unit: automatic adaptation to input voltage for global use

  • Full compatibility with current and previous MX systems, soldering cartridges, handpieces, and accessories
